Loy Eugene Drake
( November 28, 1929 – November 11, 2017 )
Loy was united in marriage to Goldean Jackson on April 17, 1954; the couple lived in Naponee, NE, where Loy continued with his trucking business while they operated a tavern and then a grocery store in Naponee in addition to farming. They moved to their farm south of Bloomington, NE on October 10, 1957 and it snowed the very next day; Loy and Goldean lived on their farm for over 60 years. Loy and Goldean enjoyed playing shuffleboard and going to auctions to stock their antiques and collectibles store in Franklin, NE. Loy always enjoyed a good visit and was a good story teller with stories of the old times. He especially enjoyed working their fields and reaping the harvest. He was a good-hearted neighbor and helped people whenever he could.
Loy was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Nellie Drake; his brother, Stuart and wife Eleanor Drake and his sister Anngreta Madonna.
Loy is survived by his wife Goldean of the home; son Aaron and wife Carol Drake of Naponee, Nebraska; grandchildren, Amy Rock; Molly (Dan) Bartels; Jessica Layton and Aaron (Katie) Davis; six great-grandchildren; brother in law, Wayne and wife Vera Jackson of Athol, Kansas; sister in law, Shirley and husband Lloyd Tubbs of Long Island, Kansas; nephews, Edward Magnusen of Denver, Colorado; and James Drake of Alma, NE and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday November 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin, Nebraska. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery near Bloomington, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 until 8 PM with the family present from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
