Wilsey – Michael Ray Morris, 70, of Wilsey, Kansas, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Morris County Hospital.
He was born February 20, 1947, in Fort Benning, Georgia, the son of David and Joyce (Gilbert) Morris. Michael retired from the United States Navy after serving 20 years.
He married Jessicah Woodard on March 4, 2004.
Mike enjoyed talking with people and setting up ideas for improvements. He was also an expert at car engine mechanics. Spending 20 years in the Navy and because of his sergeant like personality led him to receiving many certificates of accomplishments, which led him to teaching Navy students. He also was on a Navy softball team that was unbeatable. His experiences in the Navy brought forth amazing stories. Mike also enjoyed Ranch Time hunting with his brothers and friends in Del Rio, TX. He will be missed taking his ride around in Wilsey with his favorite companion, Cooper, his dog. N-stuff-n-all.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jessicah Morris, of the home: 3 daughters: Lori Oppenlander Murphy, of Washington, DC, Joyce Ball, of Llano, TX and Samantha Lopez, of San Diego, CA; step-children: Jeff Orebaugh and wife Choiseul, of Garden City, Suzie Swenson and husband Matt, of Wilsey, and Joey Orebaugh and wife Hazel, of Wilsey; brothers, David Morris II, of Center, TX, Don Morris and wife Linda, of Junction City, and Jack Morris, of Del Rio, TX; Also surviving are his grandchildren: Tanner Ball, Micah Orebaugh, Caleb Orebaugh, Jadon Orebaugh, Levi Orebaugh, Justus Orebaugh, Joshua Orebaugh, Hosanna Orebaugh, Jeremiah Orebaugh, Judah Orebaugh, Hallie Orebaugh, Hannah Orebaugh, Braidyn Orebaugh, Alexander Alfaro, Jordan Alfaro, and Avree Lopez; great-grandchildren: Arielle Orebaugh, Arianna Orebaugh, Valeria Tello; and several nieces and nephews. Mike will be sadly missed by all.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Zeiner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 14th. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
