Alta Vista – Dorothy M. Gleason, 89, lifetime resident of Alta Vista, Kansas passed away December 15, 2017 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born March 11, 1928 in Alta Vista, Kansas to Frank and Blanche Jacobs. She married James Gleason June 16, 1946 and together had two sons, Charles & Terry and two daughters, Pam & Doris. She retired from the Riley County Appraiser’s office.
Dorothy is survived by her son Terry Gleason, of Alta Vista; daughters Pam (husband Kenny) Woods, of Manhattan, and Doris (husband Kyle) Zimmerman, of Alta Vista; nine grandchildren:, Niki Depperschmidt, Candi Johnson, Kenny Woods, Brenda Alholm, Beth Guillen, James Gleason, Jacob Zimmerman, Cole Zimmerman and Drew Zimmerman; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Gleason, son Charles Gleason and daughter-in-law Lynne Gleason.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Simpson United Methodist Church in Alta Vista, at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 20th. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 10:00 A.M., prior to the service. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Senior Center or the Simpson United Methodist Church, sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
