Roger Lee Anthony Peterson, 73, of Salina, went to his eternal rest Jan. 3, 2018. He was born May 7, 1944, in Beloit, to Elmer “Pete” and Rita A. Peterson (Mick-Gasper). He married the love of his life, Gerry Thibault, Jan. 2, 1965, celebrating 53 wonderful years together.
He was an amazing father to all three of his loving children: Amy Frost and John, Roman Peterson and Jeni, Megan Baird and Justin, all of Salina. He was the coolest Papa ever to his eight grandchildren whom he adored and thoroughly enjoyed bragging about: Logan, Courtney, Mason, Ian, Isaac, Charlie, Drew, and Brooklyne.
He was preceded in death by: his brother, Russell Gasper; his parents; his stepfather, Matt Gasper; and his infant daughter, Jill Peterson.
Roger worked for 25 years as manager of Commercial Credit before his retirement. His most favorite times were with family and his many friends. He always lived life to the fullest and was an avid lover of all things family, especially the annual vacations at the beach, riding his Harleys, fast cars, and all of God’s critters. He was a father figure, best friend, advice giver, hero, and master storyteller to so many more than just his own family. He will be greatly missed by all.
Vigil-rosary service will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with the family receiving visitors from 4:30-5:30.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Mary’s Church, Salina, with inurnment in All-Saints Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities, Salina, in Roger’s name.
