LEAWOOD — Reverend Roger William Hough, 82, of Leawood passed away March 4, 2018. He was born Feb 29, 1936 in Abilene, the son of William and Ruth (Morgan) Hough. He is a graduate of Abilene High School and he attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Marquette University in Milwaukee, and Immaculate Conception Seminary in Conception, MO.
Fr. Hough was ordained May 28, 1964 by Bishop Fredrick W. Freking at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. He served as Parochial Vicar at parishes in Concordia, Hanover, Salina, and Clay Center. He was the Associate Chaplin at St Robert Bellarmine Parish – St. Isadore Catholic Student Center in Manhattan. He was pastor for parishes in Delphos, Glasco, Meredith, Mankato, Jamestown, Stockton, Kanopolis, Brookville, Holyrood, Clifton, Kimeo, Clyde, St. Joseph, Grainfield, Seldon, Leoville, Osborne and Downs. Fr. Hough retired to Leawood, Kansas in 2005. Fr. Hough was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Reed and Frances Spencer.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews, fifteen great nieces and nephews, and twenty-two great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Fr. Hough will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon, KS with Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at the church, with burial following in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Solomon.
