B. Joan Tiemann

B. Joan Tiemann 80, of Salina, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, in Salina. She was born May 28, 1937, in Preston, Kan., the daughter of Gilbert and Ruth (Otstott) Arnold. Joan was baptized and confirmed into faith.

Joan grew up on a farm west of Ness City. She learned many life lessons on the farm. Joan graduated from Ness City High School in 1955. She was a clerk in the Ness County offices.

In April 1958, in Ness City, she married Orvin Tiemann. Joan’s work was primarily in the home, in addition to Sunflower Carpets, Manor Real Estate, and was an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance. They farmed in Lincoln County, and raised four daughters.

Joan cherished life and people. Her life was rich with friendships. She was available. She was fun loving, zesty, and easy to share time and hospitality. Joan was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina.

Survivors: daughters, Tamara Tiemann, Krista Ulrich (David), Jacinda Tucker (Jeff), and Patricia Reilly (Steven); sister, Ellen Arnold; brother, Roger Arnold (Kay); nine grandchildren; two grandsons-in-law; and a great-granddaughter due in May.

Joan was preceded in death by: her husband, Orvin; infant son, Richard; and sister, Eleanor Lee.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, which will include a viewing of remembrance video from 6:30-7:15 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S. 9th, Salina, with luncheon immediately following. Overflow parking is available on east & west sides of Cornerstone Classical School, one block south of church. Interment service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lincoln.

Memorials to: Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, or St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, in care of the funeral home.
