Dorothy R. Johnson

Dorothy R. Johnson 96, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  She was born to Elof and Hulda (Johnson) Peterson. She was baptized in 1922 and confirmed in 1935 at Assaria Lutheran Church.

Dorothy married Warren Johnson on April 12, 1942.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Warren; parents and her siblings, Merle, Helen, Florence, Harold, Norris, Duane and Elaine; sons-in-law, Dave Mowrer and Charles Bezdek; grandson, Casey Bezdek; and great-granddaughter Caliya McGovern.

Dorothy was a loving mother survived by her children, Roger Johnson (Jill), Rosslyn Schultz (Steven), Bruce Johnson (Candyce), Deanne Mowrer (Dave, deceased), Coleen Bezdek-Everhart (Merl); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and bonus step grandchildren.

She has been a 4-H leader, local and state officer in EHU (Extension Homemaker Unit), officer in Union Pacific Old Timers, member at Immanuel Lutheran Church; active in the Altar Guild. WELCA, Sunday School and VBS teacher, Luther League sponsor, Quilting for Mission, and Lutheran Belles.

During her lifetime Dorothy owned Johnson Rentals in Salina, KS and worked for Triple A, and Ramsey Food Service,

Special interests were her children and grandchildren events, church involvement, sewing, interior design, square dancing, flowers and gardening, and a “super fan” of the K-State wildcats.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or Huldafest.
