Thomas E. Haas

Thomas E. Haas 102, of Janesville, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 23, 2018. He was born in Withee, Wisconsin on September 19, 1915; the eldest of five sons of Thomas J. and LaMoine (Powers) Haas. Tom honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Air Corp, as a B-17 Crew Chief. Tom married his loving wife, France Shepherd in Salina, Kansas on September 7, 1945, and they spent 67 wonderful years together before her passing on February 11, 2013. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elk and worked as a purchaser for Lee Hardware Company for 34 years in Salina, Kansas.

Tom is survived by his son, Dr. Thomas S. (Sally) Haas of Janesville, Wisconsin; grandsons, Thomas “Phil” (Amelia) Haas, Charles Haas, and Edward (Shelby) Haas; brothers, Gerald Haas of Minneapolis, MN, and Charles (Shirley) Haas of LaCrosse, WI; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Lloyd and Kermit Haas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., until service time. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the to PBS Foundation at 2100 Crystal Drive, 3rd Floor, Arlington, VA 22202.
