Edward M. Boyce, 97, of Salina, passed away Feb. 9, 2018. He was born July 26, 1920, to Howard E. and Lillian V. (Johnson) Boyce, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Edward was a Navy Veteran from 1941-1945. He served 27 months in the Solomon Islands while in active duty as a pharmacist’s mate first class. He married Carolyn L. (Bolinger) Boyce Aug. 30, 1958. Edward was a Dental Tech for 10 years and then a General Agent for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company for 25 years.
Ed was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be missed by many. He thoroughly enjoyed his career in the insurance industry and was passionate about serving his community.
Edward was a member of University United Methodist Church, Past Director Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, Past President Asbury Hospital Board, Past President Kansas Senior Golf Association, served on the Board of Trustees for YMCA and Kansas Wesleyan, Past Potentate Isis Shrine, Member Salina Lodge #60, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Order of Jesters, Downtown Lions and VFW.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Carla Goure and Jennifer Boyce; son, Nathan Boyce; grandchildren, Sara Keith and Miranda Goure; special nieces and nephews; and his faithful chairside pals, Pepper and Toby.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Margaret Green (James); and brother, Howard (Helen).
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018, at University United Methodist Church, 1509 S Santa Fe Ave., with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the KWU, UUMC, Shriners Hospital for Children, Alzheimer’s Support and Education Group, 1414 Meyer Drive, Salina, or Saline County Animal Shelter and may be sent in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
