William F. Murphy, 84 of Abilene passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Village Manor Nursing Home. He was born September 26, 1933 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Arthur and Christie (John) Murphy. He grew up in the Abilene area, attending the local schools and graduating from Abilene High School in 1951.
Bill served in Navy.
On June 26, 1955 he was united in marriage to Patricia A. Decker in Abilene. She preceded him in death June 4, 1997. He worked for Graves Trucking, driving a truck for years.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Susan Weiland (Dean) of Casper, Wyoming. One sister, Jean Rector of Abilene. Two nieces, Sally Minter and Marica Wilson (Greg) and one nephew, Warren Riekeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Patricia and a brother and sister.
The family has chosen cremation. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Abilene Public Library. Memorial may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
