Sheral-Crowley-1421408857Sheral Ann Crowley, 67, of Salina, KS, passed away Thursday, January 15th, while in the company of family members, at Via Christi- St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Sheral was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on August 20, 1947, a daughter of the late Helen Elizabeth (Reed) Wilson, and Gail Ernest Wilson.

She was the wife of Jimmy “Jim” Dale Crowley. On August 15, 1970, they were married at the United Methodist Church in Kanopolis.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Patty, of Junction City; a son, James Crowley and wife, Julie, of Tonganoxie, KS; sister, Janet Walker and husband, Chuck of Lampe, Missouri; grandchildren; Michael Crowley, Cassandra Crowley, Kiara Patty, Abigail Patty, Emilie Crowley, Alex Crowley and great grandson, De’Sean Crowley.

She was preceded by her parents, son; John Crowley and brother; Sam Wilson.

A Memorial Service will be held at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 19th, with Pastor David Strommen officiating. Inurnment will follow at Buckeye Cemetery in Kanopolis, Kanass. The family will be receiving friends at their home anytime before the service.

Ruby-Seevers-1421424315Ruby F. Seevers, 94, of Salina passed away January 15, 2015 at Dignity Care Home. Ruby was born on July 12, 1920 to the late Homer and Oda (Martin) Jarvis in Sorento, Illinois. She attended Greenville High School where she received Valedictorian of her class. She loved to fish with her mom, hunt, and read. She then met her first husband Verel Hall Sr., and they lived in Centralia, Illinois. Ruby and Verel had four kids. When she left Verel, she was seeing Tony Mays and had moved to Salina. Here she had three more kids.

While in Salina she worked as a seamstress and was a bar maid at the Bachelors Inn in Salina. While working at the Bachelors Inn she met her third husband Jerry Johnson. They moved to Colorado where she continued her career as a seamstress. Her marriage to Jerry was very short lived. Ruby then met Donny Edwards. They went to Mexico and were married in 1966. Don passed away shortly after.

Ruby then met her last husband Murle Seevers, and they stayed in Colorado until divorcing in 1982. Following that Ruby moved to Brookville, Kansas where she worked at the Brookville Hotel for a couple of years. She also sold Avon for many years until she was considered legally blind.
Ruby lived with her son Verel Jr. and his wife Barb, at their insistence, until Verel’s passing in 2008. She lived with her grandson for five years after that until she went to live at Dignity care in 2013.

Survivors include her daughter in law; Barb Hall; children, Sandy (Jimmy) Tipsword, Brenda (Wayne) McCarty, Tony (Carlotta) Mays, Darlene King, and J.H. Mays; as well as 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 32 great great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Verel Hall, Sr., Tony Mays, Jerry Johnson, Don Edwards, and Murle Seevers; sons, Duane and Verel Hall, Jr.; grandson, Michael Hall; great grandson, Joshua Tipsword; and great great grandson, Tristan Pearson.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with Pastor Loren Forbes officiating.

Cremation has been chosen and there will not be visitation.

Daniel Lee Petitjean, 64, of Assaria, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. He was born Dec. 30, 1950, in Salina, the son of Francis and Genevieve (Bealby) Petitjean. He was retired after 38 years with the State of Kansas, Division of Rehabilitation Services.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Petitjean; and sister, Patricia Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra, of the home; two daughters, Erin, of Lawrence, and Ashley and fiancé Brandon, both of Sheldon, Iowa; two brothers, Michael Petitjean and wife Carol, of Newton, and Mark Petitjean and wife Janet, of Brookville; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Nelson, of Newman Grove, Neb., and Dan Holtslander and wife Rhonda, of Carrollton, Texas; mother-in-law, Jean Holtslander, of Salina; 23 nieces and nephews; a plethora of great-nieces and -nephews; and his cat, named Cat.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Brookville. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, with vigil service beginning at 5 p.m., all at Ryan Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Brookville Senior Center, and may be sent to or left at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401.

vet_ffffffMelvin Lyman Needham, 92, of Salina and Abilene, died January 13, 2015 in McPherson, Kansas. He was born August 8, 1922 in Abilene, the son of Fay C. and Nellie (Clark) Needham. Melvin was the dearest father of Gail (Randy) Clubb and Terry Lee Needham.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nellie, Herb, Bob, and Joyce. Survivors include his children, sister Marian Foutch, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Melvin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces and Air Force during WWII, serving from 1942-1945. Before receiving his honorable discharge, he served in the 342nd Bombardment Squadron and the 15th Air Force.

He worked at Binks Manufacturing Co. In retirement, he participated in Kansas Honor Flights for WWII veterans. He retired in his beloved hometown of Abilene, Kansas where his passion was model railroading and the love of the Rock Island Railroad, where his father had worked as a freight clerk. His other passion was working on the Needham family genealogy.

Melvin was a kind gentleman and will be missed by family and friends.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Abilene Cemetery, Abilene. Ryan Mortuary is handling arrangements.
