Doris Ann Brinegar passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, in Salina. She was 68 years of age and a long time resident of Salina. Doris Ann was born in Albany, Calif. to Arthur and Doris Parker.
Doris Ann moved with her family to Kansas is 1947. She graduated from Howard High School. In 1969, she earned her BSE in art and psychology at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. In 1976, she received her MS in educational administration at Emporia State College.
On May 28, 1967, she married Cary Brinegar and to this union were born two sons, Brett and Brian. Doris Ann taught art for seven years before becoming the director of Little House Adult Learning Center and chief GED examiner for Salina. She served in those positions for 24 years. During retirement she worked part-time for the Kansas Board of Regents conducting performance evaluations of all Kansas adult GED programs.
Doris Ann was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Parker. She is survived by her husband, Cary Brinegar, of Salina; sons, Brett Brinegar, of Burlington, and Brian Brinegar, of Smithville, Texas; granddaughter, Darienne Goddard, of Smithville, Texas; her mother, Doris Parker, of Great Falls, Mont.; her siblings, Pete (Ann) Parker, of Katy, Texas, Gloria (Jerry) Badgett, of Power, Mont., and Peggy (Tim) Kimmet, of Rudyard, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina. There will be no visitation and interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Salina Education Foundation for GED scholarships.

Clara Bellerive, 90, of Salina, passed away with family near, Thursday Jan. 22, 2015. She was born Clara Dorothy Karlin March 27, 1924 in Catherine, the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Dreiling) Karlin.
Clara was a homemaker and devoted mother. In later years she worked in Food Services at the former St John’s Hospital in Salina. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Cathedral Guild for over 50 years. For many years she organized and helped work every funeral dinner at Sacred Heart. She continued to help until she was physically unable to do so.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin (1992); three brothers, Linus, Lawrence and Omar; three sisters, Louella Brown, Edna Riley and Benita McCurdy.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Stephanie) and Brian (Teresa), of Salina; five daughters, Denise (Gary) Garcia of Derby, Sharon (Dave) Knight of Topeka, Iris (Dick) Swisher of Pismo Beach, CA, and Charlene (Ed) Maurath and Janelle (Mike) Quinley of Salina; three sisters, Cecilia Long of Joplin, Rosemary Jochum and Mary Benson of Salina, twelve grandchildren, Laurie, Todd, Steven, Aaron, Adam, Melanie, Jeremy, Matt, Alex, Jake, Chloe, Joey; three great grandchildren, Jace, Dylan, and Kenzie; step-grandchildren, Rockie, Michael and Ashley; four step great-grandchildren, Sam, Fiona, Sofie and Abby; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, Jan 26, 2015 at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th, Salina, with Vigil Service at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with burial following in the Mt Calvary Cemetery.

Bill Quigley, 63, of Salina, died Friday Jan 23, 2015. He was born May 26, 1951 in Cottage Grove, OR, the son of William and Lois (Henninger) Quigley. Bill worked for Hawker Beechcraft Corp as a material parts handler for over 30 years. He was member of the Masonic Lodge #60, The York Rite, ISIS Shrine, and the Oriental Band. Bill enjoyed camping, tinkering with his 240-Z Datsun, car shows with muscle and classic cars, and motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his wife Judy; one son, Nikolas Quigley; two step-daughters, Michele Penn and Amy (J.J.) Jones; his father, William Quigley; three sisters, Carol (Brian) Calkins, Joyce (Ernie) Allen, and Constance Quigley; and seven grandchildren, Tevin, Quentin, Madison, Michaela, Jaydee, Colton, and JoJo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan 25, 2015, at Ryan Mortuary, with family greeting visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Ryans with burial in Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorials are to Fresenius Medical Care, 700 E Iron, Salina.

Verna Mae Leister, 99, Salina, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015. She was born July 20, 1915 in Glendale, KS. to Frederick and Mary Marguerete Haupt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Leister, Daughter, Clarice Leister Davis and her siblings, Clara Leister, Ann Dickerhoof, Edwin Haupt, Frederick Sheldon Haupt, Henry Lenhart Haupt, Frances Hall, and Robert Haupt. She is survived by her children, Charles Leister, Gayle Leister and Mary Johnson; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Verna married Glenn Leister on October 23, 1935 in Salina. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the former St. John’s Hospital and at Weeks store. She was a farm wife and accomplished seamstress and quilter. Verna was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she volunteered many hours to produce hundreds of quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Gentiva Hospice.
