Obituaries – June 1, 2015

vet_ffffff4518661_220wLeRoy Carter, 87 of Salina, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He was born December 24, 1927, in Concordia, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Nellie (Smith) Carter, and brother Ivan E. Carter.

LeRoy worked in the automotive field for most of his career. He is best remembered for his years of service with Warta Buick. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Cross, the local Elks and Moose Lodge, and an Air Force Veteran.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Norma Carter; daughter Jeri Steckman (of the home); sons Mark (Shawna) and Donn (Lynda), all of Salina; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

LeRoy genuinely cared about everyone and was considered a favorite uncle and “surrogate dad” by many.

In lieu of services, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Brookdale Hospice and United Methodist Church of the Cross in care of Roselawn Mortuary, P.O. Box 2322, Salina, Kansas, 67402-2322.

Allen C. Craig, 75, of Salina, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015. He was born March 20, 1940, in Salina to Roy Earl and Florence Edith (Molineux) Craig.

He married Doris Summers on June 26, 1978, in Salina.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Doris, of the home; sons, Michael (Melanie) Craig and Sean (Debra Atkins) Craig; and daughter, Donetta Brown, all of Salina; stepchildren, Brian (Jennifer) DeVere, of Salina, Jenny (Aaron) West, of Wichita, and Larry DeVere, of Salina; sister, Sharyn (Gene) Freeman, of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Kenny Devere; sister, Velma Manning; and brothers, Robert Craig and Marlin Craig.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 1, also at Ryan Mortuary.
