4942169_220wMary Kathryn Forristal, 85, of Salina, passed away August 9, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born April 25, 1930 in Salina. She worked at Westinghouse for many Years. Mary loved her color blue and was an avid self-taught pianist, painter and golfer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry W. and Dorothy R. (Harms) Markley; husband, Dennis E. Forristal; daughter, Linda S. Ashton; and two brothers, David and Richard Markley;

Survivors include her sons, Ronald A. (Becky) Forristal and Daniel W. Forristal; son in law, Hank Ashton; sister, Carolyn Head; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild;

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, August 17, 2015 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina, KS.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in care of Roselawn Mortuary, PO Box 2322, Salina, 67402.

Carl-Burkholder-1439384876Carl Allen Burkholder, 64, of Culver, passed away Tuesday, August 11th, while in the company of family members, at his residence. Carl was born in Salina on June 11, 1951, a son of the late Ella (Price) Burkholder and Arthur Burkholder.

He worked as a Truck and refrigerator mechanic for Klepper’s Gas Station as a young man and later as a mechanic and shop foreman for several local trucking companies and Schwan’s Foods. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, and in his spare time, Carl loved to work on cars. He was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Salina. He was the husband of Guyla (Henshaw) Burkholder. They married March 13, 1989 at their Salina home.

Survivors include his wife, Guyla, children, Michiel, Lowell, Susan, Forrest, Lill, Arthur, and Donnie; brother, James; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15th at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Salina with Pastor Douglas Birdsong, officiating.

center-149x195-3641941Maxine Clara (Pufahl) Rock, 91 of Herington passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Medicalodges of Herington. She was born May 11, 1924 in rural Shadybrook, the daughter of Max and Clara Pufahl. She was united in marriage to Robert Rock on February 10, 1946 in rural Shadybrook. He preceded her in death April 25, 2004. Together they farmed in the Hope area their entire lives. Maxine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church – Lyon’s Creek of Herington, the Ladies Altar Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary of Hope. She also volunteered in various church and community organizations.
Maxine is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Lorson (Leo) of Garland, Texas, Gail Pilcher (Jim) of Hope and Jan Jones (Kevin) of Cody, Wyoming and two sons, Ron Rock (Karen) of Beecher, Illinois and Ken Rock (Julie) of Overland Park, Kansas. Thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Robert and five brothers, Gerold, Edward, Elmer, Dale and DeWayne.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Lyon’s Creek, rural Herington with Reverend Walter Gilkey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday evening at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Hope. Friends may come by the funeral home from 2 to 8 P.M. Thursday to sign the book and anytime after 9 A.M. on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name to the Kansas School of the Deaf or St. John’s Lutheran Altar Guild. 39, passed away Tuesday, August 11th, in Abilene. He was born December 15, 1975 in Beloit, the son of Bob and LaDonna (Logan) Fulton. Growing up in Beloit, he attended local schools.
Kodi had been employed in construction by various companies and Solomon Corporation for the past 15 years. In 2000, he married Sherry Fitzwater. All of their married life has been spent in Abilene. Kodi enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and working at Solomon Corporation. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 15th, at the Abilene First Christian Chuch with Pastor Jason Kohler officiating. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Friday, August 14th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in Kodi’s memory be made to the Kodi Fulton Memorial Fund. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, August 15 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit followed by burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Donald Reling Grandchildren’s Educational Fund.

3272096_wlppGRACE CAROLYN SIEBOLD, 95 died August 10, 2015 in Linn, KS. She was born on October 13, 1919 in Clay County, KS, the daughter of Joe and Esther (Carlson) Matson. Grace attended country schools in Clay County. She married Marvin Siebold on September 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2000. Grace was a member of the Fact United Methodist Church, and the church Ladies Aide, she later transferred her membership to the Clay Center United Methodist Church. Grace was also a member of the Faye Walker VFW Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Lanny Siebold, daughter, Marsha Pittenger, a granddaughter, Michele Gordon, grandson, Jeffery Siebold and two brothers, Claire and Dale Matson.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 3-8 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home

Heath Reh Erbert, 38, of Lucas, Kansas, passed away from an accident in Stratton, Nebraska on Friday, August 7, 2015.

Heath was born April 3, 1977 in Lincoln, Kansas.  He was the son of Jeff L. and Teresa (Wenthe) Erbert.  He grew up in the Lucas area and graduated from Lucas/Luray High School.

Heath was a welder and pipefitter for Sandhill Welding.  Before that, he worked as a rigger for TOPS and he also worked for the Lucas Elevator.

Heath enjoyed traveling and living in his trailer where ever he was working, being a clown for rodeos, fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time with his friends.  He was a member of the Son of American Legion in Lucas and was a life member of N.R.A.

Surviving family include his daughter, Reese Erbert of Sutherland, Nebraska; mother, Teresa Erbert of Lucas, Kansas; father, Jeff Erbert of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Heather Meyer (Toby) of Sylvan Grove, Kansas; nieces, Cheyenne Meyer and Tyra Meyer; nephews, Kilby Meyer and Kolton Meyer; cousins, Jill Hudson, Katy Wenthe, Cauy Hudson, Connor Hudson, Joey Hudson, Finn Hudson, Alana Pritchett, Lauren Pritchett and Caleb Pritchett.  Uncle, Lawrence Wenthe (Sue) Aunt Connie Hudson (Deone).Many more family and friends.

Celebration of Heath’s Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Lucas Grade School Gymnasium with Pastor Les Rye officiating.  A private family burial of ashes will follow at a later date.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2015 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Memorials have been established with the Luray Golf Course or the Sons of American Legion Post of Lucas or whoever you wish.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
