Obituaries 20 November, 2015

3387501_wlppPatricia “Pat” Ellen (Pryor) Cox was born on March 18, 1931 in Nebraska City, NE to Glendon and Nita (Dillon) Pryor. She passed away November 19, 2015 in Concordia, KS.
As a young girl she spent many happy times with relatives and friends in and around Peru, NE. Her family moved to California in 1940 then to Alabama in 1943 where both parents held positions during WWII. They then moved back to Peru in 1945.
Pat graduated from Peru High School and continued her education at Peru Teachers College (Peru State) for two years majoring in Elementary Education. She was active on campus, playing piano, singing in the college chorus and the Methodist Church choir.
It was during her college time that she met the love of her life, Laurence Cox. They were married on September 3, 1950. They lived in Blair, Curtis and Tecumseh, NE then Gaylord and Concordia, KS. Pat taught school in Omaha and Auburn, NE.
In 1959 the Cox family settled in Concordia, KS where Laurence was co-owner of Quartzite Stone Company. Pat was active in the United Methodist Church, Women’s Bible Study, PEO, Beta Sigma Phi, the library board and hospital board. She also played Mrs. Santa Claus all around the community and volunteered in the Elementary School libraries.
Pat is survived by daughter Deborah (Clark) Chambers, Wichita, KS; sons David Cox of Fort Collins, CO, Dennis (Lauralea) Cox of Milford, KS, Chris (Kathy) Cox, Clay Center, KS; Granddaughters, Erin (Mike) Ruffner, Fort Collins, CO, Tara Cox, Denver, CO, Erica Chambers, Wichita, KS and Carrie (Chris) Titus, Wichita, KS. Grandsons, Garrett, Evan, Trevor and Kyle Cox, all of Clay Center; great-grandsons, Hunter Garrison, Wichita, KS, Cooper and Collin Ruffner, Fort Collins, CO and Benjamin Titus, Wichita; sister Charlotte (Gene) Sailors, Fargo, N.D.; brother in law Merril Howrey, Rogers, AR and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Cox, her parents, brother in law Don Cox and sisters in law, Margaret Cox and Carlene (Cox) Howrey.
Pat will be remembered as being a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother for her dedication to the values of hard work, honesty, kindness, fairness and faith in God.
Memorial services will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 1:30P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia with Rev. Tessa Zehring and Rev. Ken Parker officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 1-8 pm Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm, Sunday in the Parlor at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. The obituary for Pat was written by her sister Charlotte.

(February 20, 1921 – November 18, 2015)
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City. Memorials may be given to the Post Rock Humane Society or Hilltop Lodge. There will e no visitation.

vet_ffffffREV. HENRY WAGONER, 89 died November 18, 2015 in Wichita, KS. He was born on August 10, 1926 in Elkhart, KS, the son of Hank and Dorothy (Percival) Wagoner. Henry served in the US Army during WWII. He graduated from Bethany Nazarene College with a seminary degree. Henry married Eleanora Posey on September 23, 1947. He pastored at Nazarene churches in Concordia, Severy and Hoisington. The family then moved to Fall City, NE where he served at the Bethel Church. They moved to Downs, KS where he pastored for 11 years. Henry then served as minister of the Hays and Ebenezer United Methodist Churches in Clay County from 1978 to 1985. He then served at churches in Clyde and Agenda from 1985 until his retirement in 1989 when they returned to Clay Center. Eleanora preceded him in death on September 24, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

Son: Jerry and wife Terri Wagoner, Lucas, KS
