5970118_220wKeree’on Hargrove, 3, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016. He was born October 9, 2012 in Garden City, KS.

Survivors include his mother, Shardyna Johnson; father, Tyron Hargrove; siblings, Heaven’Lee Sharnieca Jean Johnson, Jaidyn Jevelle Brown-Johnson, Da’myia Anieca Marie Brown all of Salina, Ta’Naisha Rayelynn Elise Hargrove, Tyron Lee Hargrove Jr. both of Levenworth, KS Ta’Jon Tyrel Hooks of Savanna, GE, Jaylin Makel Hargrove, and Jayvon Malik Hargrove; grandparents, Sherri Roberta Breen, Elvin Gene Johnson and Linda Lashell Sims; great-grandparents, Darthey May Hargrove and Roberta Postalwaite.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, 215 S Chicago Street, Salina.

Margaret-Margie-Prater-1456841630Margaret “Margie” Ellen Prater, 73, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 29th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Margie was born in Salina, Kansas on May 7, 1942, to the late Lillian (Lewis) and Lester Ralph McCall.

On September 12, 1959, Margie married Bob Prater at the First Church of the Nazarene.

She worked at all the Salina Dillons stores for 20+ years in various Managerial positions and retired as an Assistant Manager in Junction City in 2003.

Margie loved life, loved the Lord and served him in every way, lived everyday to the fullest, laughing, playing, and loving her family. Her family was her greatest love.

Her family included her husband, Bob; daughters, Kim Barkley, and husband Steve, of Salina, Lori Wells, and husband Jeff, of Salina; sons, Bob Prater, Jr., and wife Stacy, of Assaria, Kansas, and John Prater, and wife Wanda, of Arkansas City, Kansas; as well as grandchildren, Tye, Jenna, Jessi, Joel, Matt, Dawna, Michael, Kelsey, Christian, and Jolene; and great grandchildren, Tayton, Trey, Bayleigh, and Maverik.

Margie was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jordan; brother, Larry McCall; sister, Vicki Hilliard; and her mother, Eleanor McCall.

Cremation has been chosen and at the family’s request there will be no visitation.

Memorial services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 5th, with Reverend Jon M. Fillipi officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas 67211 or to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.

Funeral services for George W. Gray, age 70, of Solomon, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Mr. Gray passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita.
He was born May 6, 1945 in Culver, Kansas the son of John and Bonnie (LaBarr) Gray. He graduated from Culver High School and worked for the Solomon Corporation as a truck driver for many years before retiring and then worked for the He worked for the Abilene Historical Museum running the carousel.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting pool.
On September 10, 1984 George married Sherryl “Candy” Keeler in Abilene. Candy survives of the home. Other survivors include his son Shaun and his wife Brandy Gray of Solomon; daughters Julie Gray and significant other Troy Hash of Solomon, Joanna Gray-Reese and her husband Randy of Solomon; brother Charles Gray of Wichita; sisters Mary Haden Wichita, Shirley Richardson of Shirley, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Lonnie and Michael Gray, his great grandson Conner, and his parents.
Cremation is planned and there will be no visitation. Private graveside inurnment will be in the Culver Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the George W. Gray Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 308, Solomon, Kansas 67480.

Loren L. Noel

98, passed away Monday, February 29th, in Abilene. He was born September 26, 1917 in the Detroit Community, the son of Abram and Edith (Frey) Noel. Growing up in the Buckeye Community, Loren attended rural Glenwood Grade School, Talmage High School, Upland Academy in California and graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1935 . On March 26, 1941, he married Alberta Gish. All of their 73 years of married life was spent farming in the Talmage Community. Loren and Alberta spent thirty winters volunteering at the McAllen Medical Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Alberta preceded Loren in death August 14, 2014. Loren was a member of the Talmage United Methodist Church and active in many local organizations including the Dickinson County Extension Board, Buckeye Township Board, F.H.A. Board, Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo Association, Talmage Co-op, Central Kansas Free Fair Board, Kansas State Fair Board Association, Talmage Lions Club and served as president of the Dickinson County Farm Bureau. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Rae; granddaughter, Julie Bissey; parents; step mother, Esther Minter Noel; and four brothers, Dale, Paul, Raymond and Eldon Noel.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 5th, at the Talmage United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Stout officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Friday, March 4th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to The Talmage United Methodist Church or the Hospice of Dickinson County. 3614213_wlppElma M. Trost, age 99, died Tues., March 1, 2016 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. She was born on May 21, 1916 near Miltonvale, KS to Roy M. & Beulah V. (Grout) Revell.

She attended Concordia schools through her sophomore year. She married Harry L. Trost on March 20, 1934 in Concordia, KS and was married 66 years until his death on April 26, 2000. Elma worked as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Joseph Hospital for almost 25 years, the Mt. Joseph and Helen Carlgren for 7 years and then the Nazareth Motherhouse for 6 years. She always loved working with people, and baked bread and cookies for her co-workers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Her co-workers, even the younger ones remain special to her. Her days on the farm were especially meaningful when watching cattle and baby calves. She also had a musical interest; singing in Trio’s and Quartet’s and was especially fond of the harmony parts.

She is survived by her son, Eugene “Bud” Trost (Dixie), Concordia; half-sisters, Vera Hubbard, Parsons & Marilyn McGlasson (Bill), Harveyville; sister in law, Velma Trost, Concordia; grandchildren, Danny Trost, Jodi Baker (Jeff), Sheila Jackson (Heath), Debbie Smith (Reece), Brian Trost (Janet) & Brent Trost; 11 great grandchildren & 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; daughter, Marilyn Trost; her parents; 6 brothers; 2 sisters; a sister in law & a brother in law.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Nielsen officiating. Burial will follow at the Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher, KS. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm with family greeting friends from 7-8 pm, Thurs., March 3, 2016 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Sunset Nursing Home or Huscher United Methodist Church.

NEWTON – Calhoun, Bernice M., 95, passed away February 28, 2016, at her residence surrounded by family.  She was born February 2, 1921, at Texhoma, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ulysses S. and Linnie Audie (Haynes) Young.  She was a retired Home Health Aide and Therapy Aide.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Calhoun; children:  Ronald and Carlene; and several siblings.  She is survived by her sons:  Gary Calhoun of Corpus Christi, TX; Ira Calhoun of Newton; Michael Calhoun of Corpus Christi, TX; Dale Calhoun of Houston, TX; and James Calhoun of El Dorado; 11 grandchildren and their families; and 3 siblings:  Thomas, Joyce and Nita.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Newton.  A private inurnment will be in the Whitewater Cemetery. Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater, is entrusted with services.

She was born on February 26, 2016 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Elijah and Lindsey (Wernecke) Jackson. Bradley-Giddings-1456829334vet_ffffffBradley “Brad” K. Giddings, 67, formerly of McPherson, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016, at Pacifica Senior Living in Fort Myers, Florida. He was retired from the NCRA Refinery where he had worked as an insulator. Prior to that, Brad was an art teacher at McPherson Junior High School.

He was born April 28, 1948 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Charles Edward and Opal Marie (Albert) Giddings. Brad was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On June 8, 1969, he married Vicki A. Hollaway. This marriage was blessed with three children.

Survivors include: his wife, Vicki of the home; two sons, Derric Giddings of Lebanon, OR and Brandon Giddings (Cari) of McPherson, KS; a daughter, Kamie Ward (Brad) of McPherson, KS; a brother, Roger Giddings (Judy) of Hot Springs, AR; a sister, Linda Sue Humphrey (Jim) of Medicine Lodge, KS; and eight grandchildren, Sierra & Alex Giddings of Lebanon, OR, Caleb, Halle, & Holli Giddings of McPherson, KS, and Macyn, Ryker, & Colby Ward of McPherson, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held in McPherson at a later date. Inurnment will be in McPherson Cemetery.
