3644945_wlppWayne Keith Fisher, 75, Bennington, died Thursday, March 31, 2016. He was born July 20, 1940 in White Cloud, KS to Lewis C. and Mildred (Duncan) Fisher.

Keith was a graduate of Havensville High School and he was united in marriage with Beverly Startzman on February 2, 1968. He worked as a self-employed welder and he raised Greyhounds. Keith loved horses, hunting, and dog races. He was a member of the United Church of Bennington, American Quarter Horse Association, and the National Greyhound Association.

Survivors include his wife Beverly; sons Kent, Kevin, and Jake (Tiffany); brothers Kenneth and Paul; brother-in-law Sam (Ruth) Startzman; five grandchildren Katharine, Thomas, Matt, Micah, and Hannah; and one great-grandson Lucas.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, at the United Church of Bennington. Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 4-6. Memorials are to the United Church or the Bennington Senior Center.

alt60325Michael “Kevin” Alton, 52, of Salina, died Friday, March 25, 2016, in a car accident. He was born Oct. 18, 1963, in Salina, to Mike and Anita (Niemann) Alton.

Kevin graduated from Salina South High School in 1982 with honors and attended Kansas State University, Manhattan.

From 1984 to 1994, he lived in Oklahoma City with his first wife Joni (Webber) Lagerman and worked with his father at Alton Tire Co.

Kevin also worked at Land Pride, Russell’s Restaurant and Prestige Coffee Systems and owned CK Flooring.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, listening to rock ‘n’ roll and cheering on the Cowboys.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Cinnamon Alton; mother, Anita; three children from his first marriage, David, Krystle and Kyla; stepson, Dusty; stepdaughter, Christa; sister, April; grandsons, Shawn, Caleb and Jaxson; and stepgranddaughters, Hailey, Ashtan and Natalie.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Kevin’s mother, Anita Alton, for youth wildlife programs, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina.

Phyllis Jane (Lund) Shomaker, 75, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born July 4, 1940, in Beloit to Clair F. and Jennie M. (Cochran) Lund.

She was a dedicated employee at Salina Regional Health Center and retired after 35 years.

She is survived by her children, Glenn Shomaker, of Salina, Harold (Jan) Shomaker, of Paris, Ark., Eugene (Holly), of Fisk, Mo., and Tommy (Nancy) Shomaker, of Salina; siblings, Gordon Lund and Janice Peterson, both of Brookville; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside will be at a later date.

vet_ffffffMARION – Steven L. “Steve” Hett, 67, passed away April 1, 2016, at Newton Medical Center.  He was born October 23, 1948, at Marion, the son of Walter and Jacquelyn (Manuel) Hett.  He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  In 1990, he was united in marriage to Barbara Stephens.  He owned Hett Roofing and was also a rancher.  He was preceded in death by his father Walter Hett.  He is lovingly survived by his wife Barbara Hett of Marion; his mother Jackie Hett of Marion; his daughter Kelley Schafers  and her husband Travis of Marion; a son Ed Svitak and his wife Mindi of Pilsen; and a daughter Amy Woods and her husband James of San Antonio, Texas; his sisters:  Melanie Ensey of Marion; Melinda Helmer of Wichita; and Melissa O’Sullivan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.  Visitation with family will be hled from  6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Aulne United Methodist Church.  Interment with military rites will be in the Claney Cemetery.   A Memorial Fund has been established for the Quail Forever Youth Program, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.

vet_ffffffWilliam Duane “Bill” Driscoll, 63, of Russell, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his home.

Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.  Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell where the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A Memorial has been established at the Bill Driscoll Memorial Fund.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
