3680674_wlppMuriel Herpich, 101, Minneapolis, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. She was born April 2, 1915 in Delavan, KS to Ross S. and Della (Sanford) Sturgis.
     Muriel was united in marriage with Leodore Herpich on October 22, 1937 in Delavan. She was a seamstress for over 20 years and she worked for ElDorado National for many years. Muriel also volunteered at the Golden Wheel Senior Center. She was a member of DAR, the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women (Ada and Minneapolis) and EHU. Muriel was also a 4H leader and she was an avid basketball fan as she played basketball in high school.
     She was preceded in death by her husband; and sisters Irene Deewall and Mildred Harkness who died April 7, 2016 at the age of 102.
     Survivors include her children Patricia Louise Gutsch,Wallace “Wally” Newton Herpich and his wife Karen, Sarah Jane Smith and her husband Eldin, Leah Jean Stone and her husband Daryl, and Ronda Kae Hooper and her husband Bill; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Ada. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday where the family will receive friends from 4-5. Memorials may be made to the Golden Wheel Senior Center or the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care.

STERLING — Reneé Diane Eidson, 49, of Sterling, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 20, 2016. She was born Dec. 30, 1966, in Salina, Kan., the daughter of Harry and Deloise Harbaugh.She graduated from Salina South High School in 1985 and attended Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kan. She married Orval Orlando Eidson Jr. on Aug. 28, 1993.

In addition to raising their children, she had been a teacher at Little Lambs Preschool and a para-educator for Sterling High School.

Reneé is survived by her husband, Orval Jr., and their three children, Meghan, Kaine and Kiley, of the home; siblings, Larry (Marica), of Shelton, Wash., Carol (Darrell) Combs, of Tampa, Fla., Marilyn (Mike) Letcher, of Tucson, Ariz., Jim (Lisa), of Hope, Richard, of Austin, Texas, and Kent (Karen), of Conroe, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Deloise Harbaugh; and grandparents, Minnie and Lou Serrien and Fred and Blanche Harbaugh.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 304 W. Grand, Salina, with Pastor Doug Birdsong presiding.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her and supported her during her illness.

James Kenneth “Jim” Kincaid, 49, of Assaria, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 29th, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas, after a battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Pico Rivera, California on July 11, 1966, to Elizabeth A. (Mayo) and Nelson Brian Kincaid.

He graduated from Sunny Hill High School in Fullerton, California.

Survivors include his father and mother, Nelson and Elizabeth Kincaid of California; brother, Brian Kincaid of California; and relatives in Kansas, Florida, South Carolina, California, and Texas.

Cremation has been chosen.

Ruth E. Abrams, 84, of Culver, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was born April 27, 1932 in Arkansas City, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Grace (Myers) Barton; husband, Leslie R. Abrams; daughters, Linda Baxter and Anita Johnson; brother, Robert Barton; and sister, Betty Robertson.

Survivors include her daughters, Angela Abrams of Culver and Tessa (Patrick) O’Brien of Salina; son, Terry (Cindy) Abrams of Culver; sister, Lois Daniels of Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1pm Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Culver United Methodist Church, 401 Main St., Culver, KS.

3680841_wlppDorothy E. McClure, age 101 of Concordia, left this earthly life on Fri., April 29, 2016 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. She was born on July 26, 1914 at the family farm in Minneapolis, KS to Andrew & Grace (Russell) McKissor.

She attended school and graduate from Minneapolis High School. He was united in marriage to Kenneth McClure in June 4, 1942 and to this union, one daughter, Mary Ann was born in 1944. They lived overseas and in various places before making Concordia their home after Kenneth retired from the service. Dorothy was a stay at home Mom until Mary Ann passed away in 1961. She then worked at the Gambles store in Concordia until she retired. Kenneth & Dorothy enjoyed traveling to every state in the union, Canada & Mexico. The spent their winters in Yuma, AZ and Pharr, TX, making a multitude of friends in their travels. Dorothy was a gifted crafter, making many gifts that she shared with family & friends. She was a member of The Baptist Church in Concordia and has made her home the last few years at Sunset Nursing Home.

Dorothy is survived by several nephews; nieces; great nephews & nieces; great great nephews & nieces sister in law; special friend, Mary Dean Nelson & a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (2005); daughter, Mary Ann (1961); brother, Lewis McKissor; sister, Norine Clark; & 3 infant siblings.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Monday, May 2, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be from 1-4 pm Sunday and from 8 am until service time on Monday all at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home. Margaret E. Derusseau, age 95, entered into rest on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Sunrise Living Center, Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on September 22, 1920 in Rural Concordia, Kansas.
She married Homer M. Derusseau on September 1, 1938 in Clyde, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2001.
Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Chuch.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha D. Letourneau (Dave), Olathe; 3 grandchildren, Stephen Letoureau (Pam), Frisco, TX.; Christine Letourneau, Olathe; Michael Letourneau (Jeannie), McKinney, TX.; 5 great grandchildren, Danielle, Alex, Jacob, Justin and Sean Letourneau.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. with family receiving friends after the Rosary all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
Mass of a Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.

vet_ffffffMARION – Navrat, Robert J., age 84, passed away April 27, 2016, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.  He was born July 9, 1931, at Marion, the son of Mike and Helen (Ptacek) Navrat.  He was a graduate of Marion High School with the class of 1948.  He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.  On August 11, 1958, he was married to Harriett J. Krasuski, to this union, his 5 children were born, the couple would later divorce.  In 1960, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Industry.  He was a farmer and franchisee. Among others, he built and operated Pizza Hut restaurants in Hillsboro, Herington, Council Grove, Marion and Strong City. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard and Marion Leo Navrat.  He is survived by his children:  Sherida Navrat of Wichita; Michael Navrat of Marion; Monya Navrat-O’Donnell (Jeff) of Boise, Idaho; C. Todd Navrat (Stephanie) of Fairway; and Elizabeth Navrat of Wichita; his grandchildren:  Natasha O’Donnell, Jacob O’Donnell, Cole Mitchell, Helena Navrat, and Hallie Navrat; great-grandchildren:  James Easton Mitchell and Grayson Reed Mitchell; a sister-in-law Joan of Wichita; and his best friend and caregiver Elora Robinson of Marion.  Viewing will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.  The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, and the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2016, both at Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.  Interment with Military Rites will be in the Pilsen Cemetery.  Memorial Gifts may be given to the Navrat Family Charitable Foundation in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.  Online Condolences may be left at:  www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.

LANORA ESHLEMAN, 71, died April 29, 2016 at Pinnacle Park in Salina, KS. She was born on May 25, 1944 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of Jacob and Mae (Talbot) Bigler. LaNora was raised in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS. She attended Crum’s Beauty School in Manhattan. LaNora worked as a hair dresser in Clay Center before moving to Salina in the 1970’s. She worked at Distinctive Images in Salina until she retired. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Connie Hullum and sister in law, Joyce Bigler.

Survivors:

Lois Jean Krause, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born in Marion, Kansas on July 15, 1939. She was the third of eight children born to Glenn and Wilma Maltbie of Marion, Kansas.Lois Jean attended Marion High School. She married Andy Krause of Hillsboro in July 1954. She attended beauty school at the Vernon School of Cosmetology in Wichita, Kansas. She was a beautician for over 30 years and was a successful manager, supervisor and owner of multiple businesses. She enjoyed traveling and worked in Kansas, Texas and Washington state. Her business intelligence, engaging personality and self motivation ensured success in all pursuits she engaged in whether personal or professional. Lois Jean loved to bake, garden, quilt, can, read and take care of her beloved dogs. The home she and Andy built was a favorite gathering spot for her three children, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Lois Jean Krause was called to heaven Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She is survived by husband Andy Krause of Hillsboro, Kansas; sons Doug Krause of Eldon, Missouri and Andrew Krause of Leander, Texas; daughter Angie Dearmond of Austin, Texas; sisters Margie Osgood of Florence, Kansas and Connie Parcal of Eldorado, Kansas; and brother Chuck Maltbie of Salina, Kansas.

John Alfred Wallace, 87, of Russell, Kansas and formerly of Luray, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

John was born on the family farm north of Luray on March 23, 1929, the son of William Smith and Jean Grace (Whiteley) Wallace.  John grew up and attended school in the Luray area which is located between Paradise and the Garden of Eden. His father passed away when John was 15 years old leaving John to take over the family farm.

John married Louse Alice Verhage on August 19, 1951 in Osborne.  They were blessed with three children; Patricia, Vicki and Roger.  They made their home on the Wallace family farm where John grew up.

John was a lifelong farmer and rancher working side by side with his wife Louise.   He lived on the family farm for over 80 years until he and Louise retired and moved to Russell in 2009.  In his free time, John enjoyed playing cards and always had a newspaper close at hand. When he could, he attended farm auctions and enjoyed driving around the beautiful Kansas countryside.

John’s surviving family include his wife of 64 years, Louise; daughters, Patricia Colglazier of Rozel, Kansas and Vicki Hemmerling (Dwight) of Hutchinson, Kansas; son, Roger Wallace (Mara) of Elkhorn, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Derrick Colglazier (fiancée Miranda Walker), Roy Colglazier, Sarah Hemmerling, Zachary Hemmerling (Emily), Zane Hemmerling (Megan), Riley Wallace and Avery Wallace; and some nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Pearl and Ruby, and son-in-law Daniel Colglazier.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Vincent Cemetery in Osborne County.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18 2016 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A Memorial has been established with the Luray City Library.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary is in charge of these arrangements.
