HERINGTON – Jerry N. Sly, 76, of Herington, died Wednesday, June 8th, 2016, at his home. He was born on August 25, 1939, at Herington, the son of William T. and Earlie (Howerton) Sly.
Christian Mass will be held at 10:30am Saturday, June 11th, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington; burial will follow at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, with Military Honors. A Rosary will precede the service at 10:00am at the church.
Mr. Sly was a Conductor for the Rock Island Railroad, then the Union Pacific Railroad before he retired. He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington. He graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class, from 1959 to 1963.
He married Martha Ann Weber on September 19, 1960, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington; she survives. He is also survived by three (3) sons: Stephen Sly (wife-Darcy) of Spring Hill, Vincent Sly of Herington, and Timothy Sly of Kansas City, MO; two (2) daughters: Belinda Chalker (husband-Mark) of Meade, and Teresa Hastings (husband-Rhett) of Glendale, AZ; a son in law David Montgomery; 16 grandchildren; and five (5) great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Montgomery (03/24/2013), an infant son Jerry Gerard Sly (04/10/1963), a sister Myrna Jean Swanger (04/22/1982), and his parents.

Funeral services for Patricia R. Sexton, age 78, of Abilene will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Abilene Cemetery in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Mrs. Sexton passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina.
She was born May 16, 1938 in McPherson, Kansas the daughter of George and Stense (Nelson) Green and graduated from Abilene High School.
Patricia had worked for the Abilene Memorial Hospital and the Abilene Public Transportation as a bus driver. Patricia loved driving the bus, reading and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Patricia married Bill Sexton. They later divorced. She then married David Emig and they later divorced. On March 14, 1988 Patricia was united in marriage to John E. Sexton. She is survived by her daughters Vickie Gadberry and her husband Don of Abilene, Maria Sexton of Junction City, Melissa Sellers and her husband Mike of Solomon; stepdaughters Leah Schwab of Clifton, Kansas, Debra Forman of Auburn, Kansas, Melinda Thomas of Auburn, Kansas, Marla Meyer of Salina; stepsons Stanley Sexton of Silver Lake, Kansas, Ray Emig of Moyock, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and nine Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her children Brenda Sexton, Thomas Sexton, Katherine Sexton, Kathleen Sexton, Christina Sexton and Angela Emig.

Ronald Postier, 59, of Lake Worth, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016.
Ronald was born in McPherson, Kansas on June 17, 1956, a son of Betty (Wright) Postier and Keith Postier.
Ron attended Washington School, park Middle School, McPherson Jr. High and McPherson Senior High schools where he graduated in 1974. After high school Ron attended and graduated from Hutchinson Community College and then went on to receive a Bachelors of Science in Business from Emporia State University in 1978.
Ron was a trusted business associate at Mercedes-Benz in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Ron’s achievements included McPherson High School’s National Honor Society and a charter member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Ron enjoyed old movies, antiques, and most important time with his dog “Hutch”, Ron was a kind and generous friend.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Postier, of McPherson, Kansas; his siblings, Karen Suggs and her husband George, of Arlington, Texas, Rick Postier and his wife Regina, of Leon, Iowa, and Gary Postier and his wife Barb, of McPherson, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Keith Postier.
Graveside services will be held at North Inman Cemetery, Inman, Kansas, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17th, 2016 with Pastor John Hoffman officiating.

Harold Norman Davis, 88, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He owned & operated an auto parts store, R-B Auto Parts, in Golden, Colorado. He also was a square dance caller for over 50 years.
He was born on July 29, 1927, in Dodge City, KS, the son of Ellery Frank, Sr. and Minnie (Stauth) Davis. On August 29, 1948, Harold was united in marriage to Donna Inez Jones in Dodge City. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before her passing on October 7, 2015.
Harold served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #172, and York Rite.
Survivors include: daughter, Debra Hendrickson and husband, Marvin, of McPherson, KS; son, Terry Davis of Canton, KS; three grandchildren, Brenda Flax of Garden Plain, KS, Bree Ayotte of Mission, KS, and Justin Hendrickson of Montezuma, KS; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Frank E. Davis, Jr., Donald E. Davis, and a sister, Mary McClaren.
The memorial service will be at 2:30 PM, Monday, June 13, 2016, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff officiating. Inurnment will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Rita Ellen Rodgers, 89, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at McPherson Health and Rehabilitation. Rita was a secretary for Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Co. and was a greeter for Walmart.
Rita was born on January 30, 1927, in Borger, Texas, the daughter of Ted and Evelyn (White) Poe. She attended first grade through tenth grade in Burrton, KS and graduated from McPherson High School in 1944. On January 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Murray Lamar Rodgers in McPherson, KS. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2015.
She was a member of Grace Bible Church.
Survivors include: five grandchildren, Pamela Grover (Jeff) of Sandy, UT, James Buller of Concordia, KS, Murrita Terronez of Wichita, KS, Janelle Brown (Dustin) of Garden Plain, KS, and Mellissa Stone (Eric) of Las Vegas, NV; 14 great-grandchildren; and several cousins including Gay Dugan of Moundridge, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Michael Rodgers and Teddy Rodgers; daughter-in-law, Charlene Beacham; grandson-in-law, John Terronez, II; great-grandson, Justin Hull; and half-brother, Bud Vanley.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 13, 2016, at Grace Bible Church. Burial will follow at Windom Cemetery, Windom, KS. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 12, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

Edward “Ed” Leon Palmer, II, 49, of McPherson, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, surrounded by family at his home in McPherson. He was a truck driver and auto mechanic.
Ed was born on December 25, 1966, in California, the son of Edward Leon Palmer, I and Judy Anderson. On September 3, 2000, Ed was united in marriage to Marilyn C. Ervin in Salina, KS.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Marilyn of the home; three children, Joshua Marcott (Janet) of McPherson, KS, Kristy May of Haven, KS, and Ricky Marcott (Nancy) of McPherson, KS; sister, Sherri Sova (Larry) of Vacaville, CA; brother, Jeffrey Palmer of Kansas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A family service will be held at a later date.
