Betty-Rodgers-1467733690Betty Lee Rodgers, 73, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Sunday, July 3rd, 2016.

Betty was born in Niles, Kansas on October 30, 1942, a daughter of the late Henrietta (Brown) and Vern Cherry.

She started Tacol Thrift Shop and operated it for around 15 years.

On June 17, 1963, Betty married Charles “Buddy” Rodgers in Salina, Kansas. He precedes her in death.

Survivors include daughter, Debra Wolf (Jon), of McPherson, Kansas; son, James Rodgers, of California; grandchildren, Joshua Setzer (Ashlee Ortiz), of Guymon, Oklahoma, Kathleen Setzer, of McPherson, Kansas, Jacob Setzer, of McPherson, Kansas, Tana Walker (Adam), of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Spring Bartel (Sheldon), of McPherson, Kansas, Tyler Wolf (Anais), of Lawrence, Kansas, Jesse Rodgers, Cynthia Rodgers, Charlie Rodgers, and Gary Rodgers, all of California. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Breanna Setzer, Jevin Setzer, Haylen Bartel, Jaxson Bartel, Jemearion Body, Jayvonte Body, Chauncey Walker, Delaney Walker; brother, Jerry Cherry, of Salina, Kansas; and sister, Jackie Brumbaugh, of Roxbury, Kansas.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rodgers and brother, Tom Cherry.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 8, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 9th, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Jon Filippi officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery, Niles, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or Galva Senior Center 218 S. Main Galva, Kansas 67443.

William H. “Bill” Schwerdtfager 60, Salina, died Saturday, July 2, 2016. He was born August 4, 1955 in Salina to Elmo H. and Goldie Elizabeth (Engstrom) Schwerdtfager.

He married LeeAnn Sutton on April 10, 1981 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tescott.

He first worked for Graves Truck Line and Express Well Service, an oil service company. He then joined Crestwood Cabinets, where he has worked for almost twenty-nine years. He loved to fish.

Bill is survived by his wife, LeeAnn; son, David Schwerdtfager, of Salina; brother Bob Schwerdtfager and wife, Carolyn, of Lincoln, Kansas; and sister, Sherry Linder, of Salina;

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Charles “Brad” Schwerdtfager.

In honor of his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Private inurnment will be at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Bavaria Cemetery or the donor’s choice, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas 67401.

3788606_fbsZelda J. Jackson-Stewart of Clay Center, Kansas passed away on Wednesday June 29, 2016 in Manhattan, Kansas.

Zelda was born in Wichita, Kansas to Mastin and Judy Jackson on September 24,1961. She was married to Rick Stewart on July 29, 2010 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Zelda Stewart is preceded in death by her parents Mastin and Judy Jackson, her brothers Bud and Kevin Jackson, and her grandparents.

Zelda is survived by husband Rick Stewart, daughter Sabrina (Billy) Sanders, sister Joquetta Eierdam, brother Troy Jackson, grandchildren Kyle and Kaylee Sanders. She also leaves a myriad of nieces, nephews, additional family members, and a host of friends.

3786603_fbsCheryl Blanken, 78 died July 2, 2016 in Riley, KS. She was born on July 2, 1938 in Mankato, KS, the daughter of Ted and Esther (McCurdy) Hodges. Cheryl was raised in the Mankato community and graduated from Mankato High School in 1956. She married Ben Blanken on February 13, 1960. They made their home and raised their family in Clay Center. Cheryl worked as a nursing home administrator from 1979 until her retirement. Ben preceded her in death on September 24, 2006. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and B.P.O.E., both of Clay Center. Cheryl was also preceded in death by a son, David; her parents, 1 brothers and 1 sister.

Survivors:

Daughter: Denise and husband Mitch McMahan, Clay Center, KS

Daughter: Sheila and husband Gail Fisher, Wichita, KS

Son: Robert Blanken, Plano, TX

Sister: Bonnie Hamilton, Wichita, KS

Sister: Shirley McMillan, Payette, ID

Brother: Dennis Hodges, Kansas City, MO

6 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center KS

Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 3-8 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home

Marion – John Douglas Wilson, 43, died July 3, 2016 at his residence in Marion.  He was born February 2, 1973 to Malcom and Nola (Madera) Wilson in West Covina, California.  He married Sondra Bezdek April 18, 2012 in Marion.  Survivors include: wife, Sondra Wilson of Marion; daughter, Jasmine Wilson on Marion; brothers Chris Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, and Casey Wilson all of California; sister, Heidi Wilson of California; numerous nieces and nephews.  Celebration of Life Service to be announced at a later date.  Memorials to John Wilson Memorial Fund in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O.
