WICHITA – Krueger, Russell Herman, 87, of Wichita, Kansas died Saturday, August 6, 2016. Russ was born June 29, 1929 in Hillsboro, KS to Herman and Bessie Mae Krueger. He was a student at Thorp No. 19 and Peabody Schools and worked on the family farm between Peabody and Aulne, Kansas. After he graduated Wichita East High in 1948, he served in the U.S Navy as an Air Traffic Controller during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Francisco, Hawaii and Kwajalein. While in the Kwajalein control tower, he was eyewitness to the Castle Bravo first hydrogen bomb test and the United States largest nuclear detonation. Russ graduated from Wichita State University in 1958 with a degree in Geology. While at Wichita University, Russ met the love of his life, Ruth Patricia Foley. They were married April July 27, 1957 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Russ worked as a regional sales representative for utility pipe companies including Johns Manville, Capco and Carsonite. He was an avid classic car collector, Packard Club member and dedicated volunteer for KSAWWA, the Girl Scouts, Elks Club, the Class of 1948 East High Reunion Committee and his Church, where served as CYO Advisor, Finance Committee member, Eucharistic Minister, Usher, and Serra Club of Wichita member. A one-of-kind storyteller, Russ brought laughter and smiles to all he met with his witticism and ditties. His honesty, loyalty and compassion was an example to many. He was a dedicated friend, surrogate father, devoted papa, uncle, brother and best dad ever to his children and their friends. He was, most of all, a sweetheart to his true love Ruthie for 59 years. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Foley); children, Karen Haque (Gavin) of Royal Oak, MI; Kathy Anderson (Kevin) of Niagara Falls, Canada; Mary Krueger (Andres) of New York, NY; Kristina Page (Joe) of Springfield, MO and Gretchen Mitchell & Kurt Krueger of Wichita, KS; sisters, Dorothy Brink of Andover, KS, & Bonnie Landrum (Leon) of Big Cabin, OK; grandchildren Helen, Claire & Alex Anderson; William Mitchell; Wesley and Nathaniel Page. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Mae and Herman Krueger.
The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Monday, and the Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016, both at St. Francis of Assisi, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, 67212. Dora A. (Criswell) Quathamer, 75, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. She was born April 13, 1941 in Odense, KS.
Dora worked for 30 years as an RN around the Wamego and Alma area.
Dora met the love of her life; Geard D. Quathamer and were married July 17, 1966 in Humboldt, KS. Out of this union came four children whomDora loved and adored; Geard J., Jane, Tina and Jennifer.
Dora instilled in her children the same moral and integrity code as she was raised. She was raised to have the courage of a lion, but with the gentleness of a teddy bear. She was known to be outspoken to the public, but gentle within her family. Within the confines of her home and family,Dora was known as “a spit fire.” She was not only known for her ability to raise a vegetable garden, but her ability to can and preserve that same garden every year. Which went hand in hand with Dora’s ability and talent to make and bake things from scratch, never store bought, and again, continued to install these same values to her children. Of all the things that Dora will be remembered most for is how very family oriented she was and how very much she loved each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Again, installing in her children these old fashioned, gentle morals.
Dora’s love and passion for animals is another endearing memory in each of her children’s memories. Sharing one particular memory where Dorawas driving along and observed someone throwing a “bag” out of a car.Dora stopped and looked inside the bag to discover four (4) baby puppies. Three of the puppies passed away, but Dora continued to hand feed the lone puppy remaining.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Thelma (Keyser) Criswell; grandson, Jaustin Riley, sister, Dr. Mildred Criswell; and brothers, Allen and Walter Criswell.
Survivors include her loving husband of 50 plus years; Geard D.Quathamer, who is known to frequently refer to Dora as “The Mrs.”; of the home, son; Geard J. Quathamer and wife; Joyce of Alma, KS; daughters; Jane Trostle and husband Mark of Lindsborg, Tina Replogle and husband Keith of Salina and Jennifer Riley and husband John of Pekin, Il. and 12 grandson, 13 granddaughters, 5 great grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2016 from 5-7pm with family to receive guests from 5:30-6:30pm at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina.
Funeral services will be held 11am, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Chapel. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Earl Dennis Gourley, Jr., 82, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his home in Kanopolis. He was born July 27, 1934 in Ellsworth to Earl Sr. and Albina (Soukup) Gourley.
Earl was a lifetime resident of the Ellsworth/Kanopolis area where he worked 17 years as the director of the Ellsworth County Noxious Weed Department and was a member of the St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Kanopolis. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Earl married Evelyn Naegele December 25, 1956 in Lincoln, KS. They were married for nearly 60 years. She survives him.
Earl is also survived by his son, Cris (Margaret) of Ellsworth; daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Bunch of LaCrosse and Angela (Randy) Bunch of Kanopolis; grandchildren, Craig, Brian (Kayla), and Cristopher (Jenna) Gourley, and Dylan, Zachary, and Taylor Bunch; great grandchildren, Clay and Aaliyah Gourley; sister, Velma Kidd (Jerry) of Kansas City, MO; and special friends Kimbree and Anthony Hopkins and their daughter Ellie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee; and grandson, Scott Bunch.

Arnold Thomas Horn, 82, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Tecumseh, NE, passed away on August 10, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Living Facility in McPherson. Arnie was born to Thomas and Jean (Hamilton) Horn on April 8, 1934, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1952 and then attended Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, SD where he
met Mary Beth Gillett. Arnie served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958. Arnie and Mary Beth were wed on December 23, 1954, in Tecumseh, NE and eventually settled there after his time in the Air Force. Arnie worked for the Post Office until he retired as Post Master in 1990. Arnie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh and served in many areas, including choir director, Deacon, and Trustee. He loved singing in the choir and providing music in the community with Mary Beth at the piano.
Arnie was beloved for his generosity, kindness, and humor and was always busy in his yard or in the community. He was especially passionate about youth baseball. In the 1970’s, he saw a need for more practice fields and sought donations through the county and city and volunteers to construct the baseball fields at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. He coached the Red Sox Little League, and girls’ softball team. He also volunteered at the Recycling Center, served on the Library Board, the City Council, and helped his neighbors and friends and spent his free time woodworking, landscaping and volunteering in the community. In 1977, he was awarded the AKSARBEN Good Neighbor Award. This award recognizes people in Nebraska who perform unselfish acts of kindness and who go above and beyond deeds or services throughout their Nebraska community.
Arnie and Mary Beth enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States, and Arnie had the opportunity to travel to Egypt in 2009 and Italy in 2011.
In October, 2013, Arnie moved to McPherson, KS to be near family and resided at Brookdale Senior Living Facility. He is survived by his brother, Harry Horn and wife Marilyn of Rock Springs, WY, daughter Julie Feurer and husband Bob of North Bend, NE, daughter Jeanne Whitenack and husband Brett of McPherson, KS, son Alan Horn and wife Bonnie of Olathe, KS, son Tim Horn of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren, Erin Feurer, Wichita, KS, Cade Feurer and wife Courtney, North Bend, NE, Jake Whitenack and wife Sarah, McPherson, KS, Bethany Whitenack, McPherson, KS, Andrea Horn, Olathe, KS, Kelsey Horn, Manhattan, KS, Seth Horn, Olathe, KS, Adam Horn, Lincoln, NE, Kyle Horn, Lincoln, NE, great-grandchildren Curtis Landrum and Cali Whitenack of McPherson, KS, Bram Thomas Feurer of North Bend, NE, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Beth Horn.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, NE. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with family greeting from 6-8 PM at Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh.
