2922089_wlppMarlene June Clark, 67, Manhattan, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Manhattan. She was born February 27, 1947 in Minneapolis to Elton A. and Edith E. (Allen) Clark.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Gerald, Gary, and Eldon Clark, Sr.

 

Survivors include her children Allen, Joshua, Elton, and Dustin Johnson; sisters Alice Clark Thomas and Judith Ryan; half-sister Jolene Clark; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

 

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 24 at the Heiser Cemetery, rural Lincoln. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467 to assist with expenses.

Gloria Belle Hoover, 99, of Salina, passed away Sunday, January 18th, at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center.

Gloria was born in Blue Rapids, Kansas on February 4, 1915, to the late Clarinda (Cronkite) and James Padgett.

Gloria worked as a housekeeper.

She is preceded in death by her husband Whetzel Hoover, who died in 2004.

Graveside services will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, with Pastor John Fillipi, officiating.

den50118Dennis Denning, 86, died January 18, 2015. He was born July 20, 1928 in Emmeram, KS. the son of John and Margaret (Dreiling) Denning.A lifetime educator in theatre he taught nine years in Kansas secondary schools and From 1961 to 1968 at Kansas State University he headed the theatre program. From 1968 to 1989 he chaired the Theatre and Fine Arts division at Marymount College in Salina, KS where he directed or supervised more than 100 performances. He maintained lifetime friendships with many of his former students, and was very proud of their many accomplishments. After he retired he was inducted into the Kansas Theatre Hall of Fame.

Dennis is preceded in death by his first wife, Alice (Needels) Denning, 1999, a son, Bruce and his 12 brothers and sisters Cyril, Arthur, Stella, Ralphael, Max, Alberta, Zita, Ralph, Armella, Ida, Adlore, and Carroll Denning.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Dodge) Denning, of the home; his son, Gary Denning (Jan), and daughter, Cindy Curry, all of Salina. His step children are: Jill Puetz (Ken), Jay Johnson (Lisa), and Kappy Park (Scott). His grandchildren are David and Cathy Denning and Patrick and Emma Curry. His step grandchildren are: Justine Johnson, Jason Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Maggie Matteson, Mark Matteson, Karoline Park and Major Park.

There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. private Interment of his remains will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

Vigil services will be at 7:00 pm Monday evening Jan. 26th at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Sisters of St. Joseph or Emporia State Theater Department.

Matilda Pauline “Tillie” Hoth, 98, Salina and formally of Holyrood, died Sunday, January 18, 2015. She was born August 30, 1916 in Ellsworth County, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Kempke) Hoth.

She was a graduate of Sterling College and a retired teacher who taught in rural one room schools in Ellsworth County prior to teaching in elementary schools in Holyrood and Bushton. She married Kenneth Hoth on April 1, 1944 in Santa Fe, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1967.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice (Archie) Riggs, Salina; two grandchildren, Angie (Beau) Martin, Shawnee, and Anita (Greg) Bush, Olathe; and four great grandchildren, Cole and Bennett Martin and Macy and Ellie Bush. Tillie has a sister, Arline Kerns, Lindsborg.

Memorial Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina. There will be no visitation and a private inurnment will take place before the services. Memorials are suggested to Trinity UM Church or St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Holyrood.

bre50117Diane L. Bremerman, 48, of Salina, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. She was born May 27, 1966, in Salina, to Donald and Carole (Newell) Bremerman.

Diane graduated from Minneapolis High School and Kansas State University, Manhattan, and was a member of All Saints Orthodox Church, in Salina.

Diane was preceded in death by her father, Donald, and sister, Sandra Bremerman.

She is survived by her mother, Carole; sisters, Lynette Karcher and Sierra and husband Brendon Crain; nephews, Landon and Owen Karcher; niece, Taylor Karcher; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private family service will be held at All Saints Orthodox Church, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina.
