Jerry D. Brown, 79, of Smolan and formerly of Salina, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his home. Jerry was born Dec. 25, 1935, in McClelland, Ark. Jerry graduated from Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield, Calif., in 1953, followed by an 8-year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force.
Jerry married Jean Grant on Oct. 3, 1959. They were married 55 years. Throughout the years Jerry was employed at Rocketdyne and by State Farm Insurance, worked as a self-employed upholsterer and retired as a machinist from Tony’s Pizza in 1997.
Jerry is survived by daughter, Rochelle Albers and husband Curt, of Smolan; son, Jerry Brown and wife Demaris, of Pleasanton, Calif.; five grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Brooke Brown, Carleigh Albers, Conner Brown and Carrie Albers; and sisters, Delphine Burgess, of Farmington, N.M., Darlene Glover, of Bakersfield, and Charlene Greenlea, of Bakersfield. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jean Grant Brown.
A celebration of life is planned to honor Jerry and Jean from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Shriners’ Lodge, 200 E. Diamond Dr., Salina. RSVP is requested to brownjnd@yahoo.com.
