Jerome was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on June 19, 1943, a son of the late Gertrude Emile (Bienhoff) and Allen Clarence Hein.
He taught English, Drivers Education, Coached sports and later in life worked for Tamko and UPS.
Survivors include brother-in-law, Leland Rahjes, and wife Linda, of Kensington, Kansas; nieces, Risa Bayliff (Steve), Tonya Lee (Justin); great-niece, Emily Bayliff; Great nephews, Trevor Bayliff, Camden Lee, Colsen Lee; and extended family, Leonard Rahjes, wife Genny (Robben), Luke Rahjes and Charyne Rahjes.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Judith Hein Rahjes.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14th, from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home with family present from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Kensington, Kansas, at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 16th, with Pastor Lorna Paulus officiating.
Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Kensington, Kansas.

John Duane Chapman, 62, Wakefield, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Salina Regional Health Center. He was born May 21, 1954 in Clay Center to Floyd and Ruth (Seals) Chapman.
John was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Charles and Mary Seal and Herbert and Gertrude Chapman; brother Larry Chapman; and nephews Petey Blevins, Chris Blevins, and John McClure.
Survivors include his wife Deb Chapman; children Courtney Smith, Cody Parks and wife Whitney, and Cole and Cale Chapman; sisters Marcy Chapman, Sandy Bieker and husband Charles, and Marilyn McClure and husband Gilbert; and five grandchildren Keanua, Cordel, Kaden, Kingsly, and Kelis.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. in Highland Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. SENECA — Helen R. Loy, 96, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Life Care of Seneca. She was born June 22, 1919, in Salina, the daughter of Martin and Hattie (Nelson) Leonard.
A lifelong resident of Salina, she moved to Seneca in July 2009 to be near her son.
Helen married Daniel W. Witters on Christmas Eve, 1937, until his untimely death in August 1950. She later married Salina firefighter, Ben H. Loy on Nov. 8, 1953. He passed away in April 1985.
An accomplished soprano soloist, Helen sang with the Immanuel Lutheran Church choir for 50 years and was a member of Salina Treble Clef Music Club. She also performed with the renowned Bethany Oratorio Society of Lindsborg for 35 years, which, since 1882, has annually performed the “St. Matthew Passion” by J.S. Bach on Good Friday and Handel’s “The Messiah” on both Palm Sunday and Easter at Bethany College. She had the honor of singing at New York City’s Carnegie Hall when the Bethany Oratorio Society was invited to perform “The Messiah” on Easter Sunday 1997. The performance was broadcast live on PBS stations nationally.
Helen was preceded in death by her son, Daniel E. Witters; stepson, Max Loy; and grandson, Jeremy Witters.
She is survived by her son, Lynn A. (Teresa) Witters, of Seneca; daughter, Elaine Witters Pool, of Overland Park; sisters, Alice Rowan, of Wichita, and Frances Weis, of Salina; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday June 15, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N Eighth, Salina.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial following at Roselawn Cemetery.

Council Grove – Leon Edward Converse, Jr., 89, of Council Grove, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
He was born April 18, 1927, to Leon E. and Pauline (Friend) Converse, in Newton, Kansas. His family moved to Council Grove area when Leon was a young child and he grew up on the farm. He joined the US Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Alice Myers in 1956 in Parsons. They later divorced and he married Wanda Holtman on February 11, 1978. Wanda passed in 2012. Leon worked for 30 years for Missouri Pacific Railroad, as well as farming and ranching.
Leon was a member of Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church and the United Transportation Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wilma Kieffer and wife Wanda.
Leon is survived by his daughters: Ellie Pearson & husband Steve, of Emporia and Luretta Thomas & husband Jim, of White City; step-children: Debbie Thomas & husband Bruce, of Pensacola, FL, Becky Carpenter, of Topeka and Tom Beard & wife Nancy, of Salt Lake City, UT; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, June 16th, at Zeiner Funeral Home.

Willard W. Rieke, son of Ervine Rieke and Edith (Larkins) Rieke was born January 3, 1921 at Rural Republic County, Kansas, near Chester, Nebraska and passed away on June 9, 2016 at Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 6 days.
He graduated from Chester High School. He was united in marriage to Anita L. Day on March 26, 1942 and to this union two children were born, Terry and Susan. He served with the United States Army during World War Two from September 3, 1943 to December 24, 1945.

Betty Jean Wiche, daughter of Charles Polak and Blanche (Filipi) Polak was born on the family farm north west of Narka, Kansas on July 23, 1930 and passed away June 11, 2016 at the Republic Co Hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 18 days.
She attended Maple Grove school and graduated from Cuba High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Eugene E. Wiche on May 27, 1948. She helped her husband Eugene farm and raise live stock. She raised horses and enjoyed her garden and many flowers.
She is a member of Central Christian Church, Belleville, KS, CWF of the Christian Church, worked as a 4-H project leader for many years
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Blanche Polak, infant brother, husband, Eugene E. Wiche, one granddaughter, Nicole J. Hoard, one grandson, Nicholas Hoard, brothers, Charles Polak Jr., Leonard Polak.
