tre60620WICHITA — Christina Salter-Trevizo, 59, of Wichita, died Monday, June 20, 2016. She was born March 15, 1957 in Council Grove to Jack and Josephine (Bargas) Salter. Christina worked as a dietitian in private health and nursing homes throughout her life. She loved to cook for her family and was known for her free spirit, and her kind and loving heart. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Emiliano Trevizo; her parents; son, Victor (Shawna) Nunez; step-daughter, Iliana Romero; granddaughters, Mercedez, Liliana, Ariana and Elainey Nunez. Christina is also survived by her four brothers, Rick Salter, Shawn Salter, Shannon (Shellie) Salter, and Destin (Anna) Gordon; five sisters, Jacquie (Maximo) Moreno, Beth Salter, Marcel (Alan) Benninga, Tammy (Jason) Thayer, and Latricia Corona-Nonnemaker; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her “little granny” Marie Mascareno and grandpa Jesse Bargas.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Memorials may be made to the family to assist with the grandchildren’s education and left in care of the mortuary.

“If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling’ on now, there’s too many places I have to see.”

vet_ffffffAllen Lloyd Jackson, 84, passed away Thursday, June 23 at Salina Regional Medical Center. Allen was born July 3, 1931, son of Peter A. and Alma E. (Landrum) Jackson, at the Jackson homestead east of Enterprise, KS.

He attended one room schools of Stony Point and Pleasant Hill in the Enterprise area and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School, Chapman, KS in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
After his service to his country, he worked for the Tilecraft Co. in Kansas City. In 1956, he returned to Enterprise, KS, and began working at the J.B. Ehrsam Manufacturing Co. which later became ABB. He retired April 30, 1994.
On August 4, 1957 he was united in marriage to Twila Marie Kuntz. This union was joined by one daughter, Wanda Sue.

Allen was a faithful Christian and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Enterprise, KS, where he served as lay leader, deacon, trustee, and Sunday School teacher. His love for the Lord shone through in all that he did. He was a volunteer at the Dickinson County Historical Society and also a 53 year member of the American Legion Post 0240, Chapman, KS. Allen enjoyed whittling and working in his shop with his grandson, playing his banjo, mandolin, and guitar, and was teaching himself to play the fiddle, not the violin. He had a great passion for the outdoors including hunting, fishing, working in the yard, watching birds and tinkering on his Farmall Cub tractor. Allen spent many hours restoring his very first car, a 1923 Model T, purchased in 1949 and he enjoyed giving rides to friends and family. Although his family was converting him to a K-State fan, Allen never missed watching a KU basketball game on TV.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Twila; daughter, Wanda (Russell) Pitney; two grandchildren, Sophia and Eli, all of Abilene; brother, Leon Ray (Phyllis) Jackson Enterprise, KS, and sister, Phyllis Jeanne Miller, Boston, MA; sister-in-laws, Phyllis D. Jackson El Dorado Springs, MO, Pamela Jackson and June (Gerald) Atkinson, of Abilene; brother-in-laws, Bill Nowlan Sterling, KS, Warren (Patricia) Kuntz Hoover, AL, Dorland (Eloise) Kuntz Caro, MI, Dwight (Patti) Kuntz Fort Wayne, IN, Marvin (Sandy) Kuntz Abilene and dearly loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lester, Dale, Doyle and Dean; sisters, Nina Ruth King and Ava Fiedler Nowlan; sister-n-law Melissa Jackson
and brothers-in-law Robert Fiedler, Francis King, and Edward Kuntz.

Allen’s memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 29, at 10:30am at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Abilene, KS, with Pastor Darren Baker officiating. The family will receive family and friends Tuesday, June 28, from 6-7:30pm at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Allen’s name to the First Baptist Church of Enterprise or the Dickinson County Historical Society and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Gary Brown, 48, Beloit passed away Thursday June 23, 2016. Visitation will be at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments Friday June 24th from 4-7 pm. Services Saturday, June 25th at 10:30am at the funeral home. Internment to follow at Elmwood cemetery.

Hillsboro – Dennis Ray Hamm, 53, died June 23, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.  He was born May 21, 1963 in Hillsboro to Ted and Ruth (Black) Hamm.  He worked at Hillsboro Industries in Hillsboro.  Survivors include: brothers, Clinton of Newton, Alan of Hillsboro, Howard of Hillsboro, Loren of McPherson, Terry of Hillsboro; sister, Sandra Bezdek of Hillsboro; numerous nieces and nephews.  Celebration of Life Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Durham Baptist Church in Durham officiated by Pastor Brad Penn.  Family will receive guests from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the Church.  Interment at Durham Park Cemetery rural Durham, Kansas.  Memorials to Durham Baptist Church in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O. vet_ffffffSchneider,PetesingleClarence Pete Schneider, 89, of Wilson, Kansas and  formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, Kansas.

Pete was born August 10, 1926, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Pete and Anna (Herdt) Schneider.  He grew up and attended school in Hoisington.

Pete served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, stationed in the Pacific.  After the war he returned to the Russell area.

Pete was united in marriage to Mary R. Wolfers in 1972.  They made their home in Russell.  Mary preceded him in death on November 30, 2013.

Pete worked in construction and as a carpenter in the Russell area for many years.  He was a life member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240.  He enjoyed square dancing with Mary,; winning fishing tournaments; raising chickens, quail and pheasants;  and tinkering in his shop where he always had a project going.

Surviving family include his three grandchildren, Tami Fuller (Chad) of David City, Jana Cook (Lonny) of Salina, Kansas, Nebraska and Bobbie Bieker of Kilgore, Texas; step son, Kenneth Bieker of Nickerson, Kansas;  brother LeRoy Schneider of Jamestown, Kansas;  five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Mary.

Celebration of Pete’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 27, 2016 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.  Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell where Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.  Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. A Memorial has been established with the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
